1. Make sure brakes, defroster, heater, exhaust system and lights all work properly
2. Replace wiper blades
3. Inspect your tires
4. Carry snow chain or consider snow tires
5. Get an oil change
6. Test your battery
7. Check antifreeze – 50:50 mix for winter
8. Stock up on emergency supplies :flashlight, flares, first aid kit, window washer fluid, tool kit, sleeping bag or blanket, gloves, paper towels, de-icer, drinking water, extra food, and sand, salt or kitty litter
